Alice: Beyond Reality

Many young people struggle with stress and anxiety management issues. Providing young individuals with tools to control their physiology is essential for improving their mental health. Alice: Beyond Reality is a Virtual Reality game that allows young people to learn about the impact of deep breathing on their physiology through a biofeedback system, all while attempting to save the cards from the Queen of Hearts’ power.

Alice: Beyond Reality aims to teach young people to control their physiology through deep breathing while experiencing a Virtual Reality adventure.

  • A PSYCHOLOGICAL TOOL:

Alice: Beyond Reality is a tool designed for young people to learn about how their bodies function from within in a unique way. The skills they acquire in the game can be applied in real life whenever needed.

  • GAMIFICATION:

Numerous studies suggest that gamification helps internalize educational content. In this case, through gameplay, young people will learn about physiological control while having fun.

Alice: Beyond Reality is an immersive Virtual Reality game developed using Unreal Engine. Blender and Photoshop were used for asset creation.

  • GAMIFIED ELEMENTS:

Throughout the game, players will encounter various gamified elements, including different challenges and progressively increasing difficulty. Additionally, players must collect as many cards as possible and can compete with each other to see who gathers them all.

  • BIOFEEDBACK SYSTEM:

Thanks to the biofeedback system, players will be able to monitor their heart rate at all times and control it at will, adjusting it as needed for various challenges. This system operates with an application developed in C# that connects the Empatica E4 wristband to Unreal Engine.
