EDUAVATARS

This project is an MR application set in an industrial robot cell, which can present many challenges when it comes to starting up (the so-called commissioning process). Often, instructors are not available to teach workers the procedure. This application provides a solution by creating an avatar for the instructor, who only needs to record step-by-step instructions. Learners can watch and listen to these instructions to follow the procedure. Additionally, the learner can record questions, which the instructor can later review and answer.

This project has been carried out in collaboration with Anjela Mayer, from Institute for Informationmanagement in Engineering (IMI) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

In Collaboration With:
  • Provide an intuitive interface to create instructions by using record & play.
  • Users can watch and listen to the virtual instructor as many times as they need.
  • Instructions can be divided into steps, avoiding overloading the user with too much information at once.
  • Interactive interface for recording and playing instructions.
  • Full-body avatar to represent the instructor.
  • A mode to record questions from learners for the instructor, allowing asynchronous collaboration where the instructor can respond later.
