During the last Noche Blanca in Burgos, XRAI Lab, and the ARHISMO Research Group of the University of Burgos were present at the Museum of Burgos. They have participated in the event with their new Virtual Reality application to bring the public closer to the Isis statue. This application was developed in collaboration with the AVR Lab of the Salento University (Italy).
REDISCOVERING THE STATUE OF ISIS THROUGH VIRTUAL REALITY
The Noche Blanca took place during the night of 25th to 26th May in Burgos (Spain). Some members of the XRAI Lab were at the Museo de Burgos, where visitors experimented with the complete 3D restoration of the Isis statue. In that museum, the statue is preserved but without arms and the symbolic objects it once held. The application allows users to observe and get closer to the restored statue as if it were in front of them in reality, thanks to Virtual Reality technology.
The event received a warm welcome, with around 150 people of all ages immersing themselves in the Virtual Reality experience and enjoying the explanatory video about the history of Isis and its decorative elements. Attendees enjoyed this immersive experience while learning about the history and meaning of the statue.
INNOVATION AND LEARNING WHIT THIS VIRTUAL REALITY APPLICATION
With this application, XRAI Lab aimed to bring the public closer to Virtual Reality technology and to use it as a tool for learning and tourism to acquaint people with Isis. The Noche Blanca event was the perfect opportunity to unveil their new application in collaboration with the Museo de Burgos.
